The EGEMAP Laboratory (University of Granada) continues to strengthen its interdisciplinary and international research capacity through strategic collaboration with the Industrial Systems Institute (ISI | isi.gr) and Graniot Satellite. Within this framework, Lamprini Mingou and Agorakis Bompotas, both researchers from ISI, have played a key role in advancing data-driven methodologies for environmental and agricultural research, working closely with Lucía Moreno at the University of Granada.
Lamprini Mingou, in collaboration with Graniot Satellite and the EGEMAP laboratory, has contributed to the development of a standardized protocol for measuring soil and environmental chemical properties using UV–VIS spectrophotometry. This work focused on ensuring methodological robustness, repeatability, and compatibility with large datasets, laying the foundations for reliable laboratory-based chemical characterization. The protocol is designed to support advanced analytical workflows and to facilitate integration with remote sensing and modelling approaches.
In parallel, Agorakis Bompotas has led the pre-processing and structuring of meteorological data from AEMET stations across the province of Granada, with the objective of enabling their use in predictive machine learning models. His work involved data cleaning, harmonization, temporal aggregation, and feature engineering, ensuring that long-term climatic datasets can be efficiently integrated into automated learning pipelines. These efforts are essential for improving the accuracy and scalability of predictive models related to environmental dynamics and land management.
Together, these complementary contributions bridge laboratory-based chemical analysis, meteorological data science, and automated predictive modelling, reinforcing EGEMAP’s capacity to develop innovative, data-driven solutions for environmental monitoring and sustainable land-use research. The collaboration also highlights the added value of combining expertise from academic research, technological innovation, and industrial systems engineering.
The University of Granada, through the EGEMAP Laboratory, acknowledges the valuable input of Lamprini Mingou and Agorakis Bompotas, as well as the support of Graniot Satellite and the Industrial Systems Institute, in fostering high-impact research that connects experimental protocols with advanced machine learning and decision-support tools.
