Representing SOSVITI
Last week, the coordinator, Jesús Rodrigo Comino, had the pleasure of attending AgriTech Expo Málaga, one of the most dynamic and forward-looking events in Spain dedicated to agricultural innovation, technology, and sustainability. The fair brought together hundreds of companies, institutions, and research groups from across Spain and beyond, creating an exceptional environment for knowledge exchange and collaboration between the agri-food industry, research centers, and technological enterprises.
Although I am not often involved in this kind of trade fair, I found AgriTech Expo Málaga to be a truly inspiring experience—a valuable opportunity to learn about cutting-edge technologies, emerging projects, and innovative services that are shaping the future of the agricultural sector at both national and international levels.
It was an honour and pleasure to represent the consortium research group at this major event. Thanks to the invitation from Agustín Fonts Cavestany, we had the opportunity to present our latest work on soil erosion in vineyards, developed within the European projects #SOSVITI and #GOSOSVITI.
Our participation was supported by the excellent teams of the International Projects Office (Oficina de Proyectos Internacionales) and the OTRI – Research Results Transfer Office at the University of Granada, whose efforts are essential in promoting the international visibility of our research. I would also like to highlight the important contribution of SOILCRATES EU and the Medialab UGR – Social Innovation Lab of the University of Granada, whose work focuses on soil management, territorial governance, and sustainable innovation.
A Meeting Point for Agricultural Innovation
AgriTech Expo Málaga gathered numerous outstanding organizations and technology companies such as AEROFOR, DJI, Graniot, Auravant, IRTA, DeepAgro, NEIKER (Basque Institute for Agricultural Research and Development), and CIDAF (Andalusian Center for Research and Food Development), among many others. Each of them showcased solutions for precision agriculture, AI-based monitoring systems, robotics, and sustainable farming practices, all of which are transforming the landscape of modern viticulture and agri-environmental management. Events like AgriTech Expo Málaga are not only a space for presenting technologies but also a crucial forum for building connections between science, policy, and industry. For EGEMAP, it was an invaluable opportunity to share our research on soil erosion, drone mapping, and environmental monitoring with professionals who are directly involved in applying these innovations in the field. We believe that dialogue and collaboration are the foundations of sustainable progress. Participating in such an event reinforces our commitment to bridging academic research with the practical realities faced by farmers, cooperatives, and agri-tech innovators.
Moving Forward
We return from AgriTech Expo Málaga with new ideas, contacts, and partnerships, motivated to keep working toward a more sustainable and technologically advanced agricultural future. At SOSVITI, we remain dedicated to combining scientific research, territorial analysis, and digital innovation to promote the resilience of soils and vineyards, both in Spain and across Europe.
Thank you to everyone who made this experience possible — and to all the inspiring people we met along the way.
