As part of the Athena program, we, Christina Karampini and Ioanna Papadopoulou, had the opportunity to spend a secondment period in Granada, working in collaboration with the University of Granada (UGR), the Industrial Systems Institute / Research Centre ATHENA, and Graniot, within the framework of the SOSVITI project.
During our stay, we carried out soil analyses focusing on pH, electrical conductivity, aggregate stability and calcimetry. At the same time, we worked on the development of protocols for the use of the spectrophotometer and the chemical procedures required, laying the foundations for a systematic methodology that will enable the analysis of vineyard soil samples in the next stages of the project.
This work was made possible through the scientific guidance of Jesús Rodrigo Comino from the University of Granada, the support and supervision of Athanasios Kalogeras from the Industrial Systems Institute / Research Centre ATHENA, and the collaboration of Graniot in providing technological expertise.
The secondment offered us valuable hands-on laboratory experience and allowed us to establish the basis for standardized procedures that will contribute directly to the broader objectives of SOSVITI. We are grateful to all our partners for their support and look forward to building upon this collaboration to promote sustainable soil and vineyard management practices.
